Elk Hunting at The Crazy French Ranch

I would not recommend anyone Hunting with this Outfitter. They have multiple company names (Ex: Private Land Bucks and Bulls) and book through all their companies therefore overbooking their hunts. Here is a quote from their website: "We Would like to thank you for considering us for your future Western big Game hunt. We are proud to say that we had another exceptional "high success and trophy harvest season in 2010." Hope we'll have the pleasure of meeting you this fall and showing you the quality of hunting we enjoy on our Colorado and New Mexico private ranches."
I know that this was definetly not the case. As too 90% off the hunters at camp were unsatisfied with the false information that was fed to them before booking the hunt. The Crazy French Ranch is interested more in your money and not whether or not you leave having had a successful and enjoyable hunt. As far as quality management goes, by the 2nd last day the Ranch Owners were telling the guides to allow their hunters to shoot any 5x5 Elk. We were told that we wouldn't even think about pulling the trigger on a Bull unless it was 320 or bigger. They told us the average Bull taken was a 330-340. This was not the case. Be very careful before booking with this Ranch. I will elaborate on my experiences more with this Ranch in the future, but if anyone has had a similar problem with this Outfitter/Ranch, please share your story.

  1. I would like to join Don K in expressing a very unsatisfying experience at the Crazy French Ranch. Along with a long time hunting friend I booked a hunt with some outfitter called Carson Country Outfitters and the info we received assured us that we would see 330 and larger bulls and many "trophy" mule deer bucks while hunting on the Crazy French Ranch. I have hunted almost every western state along with Africa and 3 times in Alaska, and I must say that in 48 years of hunting with many outfitters and guides have I been in a camp with as many egotistical, lying, unprofessional people as I experienced in camp with the so called outfitter while hunting on the Crazy French Ranch. If you have any questions or comments, please share.
